  1. Review: "Last time we found our representatives. Who remembers their names?"
  2. Ask: "What do you think they DO all day?"
  3. Record student guesses on chart paper
  4. Explain: "Let's use CIV.IQ to find out what they actually do"

2Exploration

15 minutes
  1. Navigate to one of your representatives on CIV.IQ
  2. Explore the profile together:
  3. - About section: Where are they from? How long have they served?
  4. - Committees: "These are like special teams that focus on specific topics"
  5. - Read committee names aloud — ask students what they think each one does
  6. - Bills: "These are ideas for new laws they're working on"
  7. Click on one bill title — read the title together
  8. Discuss: "Why do you think your representative is working on THIS?"
